The Church Uncovered and Emerging

Back in July on the 4th of Av, I wrote a blog.  You can reread it here: 4th of Av

The 4th of Av was the day that Nehemiah's work began on rebuilding the gates and walls of Jerusalem. The very first gate mentioned is the sheep gate. It was called the sheep gate because this was the gate which the sheep and lambs used in the sacrifice were brought through to the temple.  The sheep gate is not mentioned anywhere else in the Scriptures.  It was constructed by the High Priest Eliashib.  But this same high priest gave quarters in the House of God to the very man who was a part of the trio of enemies that sought to destroy Nehemiah's plans.

At our TXAPN Leadership retreat, the Lord declared an assignment to open the East (Sheep) Gate of our nation. It was to be done by a new contingency of Priests and Kings. In obedience to that revelation, I joined Jon and Jolene Hamill and Chris Mitchell on August 18, 2017 at Cape Henry near Virginia Beach.

Cape Henry was named on April 26,1607 in honor of Henry Frederick Stuart, the elder of two sons of King James I of England. An expedition headed by Captain Christopher Newport took a long voyage of 144 days from England.  Cape Henry was their first landfall, an event which has come to be called "The First Landing".

Soon after this landing the English colonists erected a wooden cross and gave thanks for a successful crossing to a new land. In the First Charter of Virginia, King James I devoted parcels of land for the purpose of spreading the Christian religion. The Charter reads in part: "We are greatly commending, and graciously accepting of, their Desires for the Furtherance of so noble a Work, which may, by the Providence of Almighty God, hereafter tend to the Glory of his Divine Majesty, in propagating of Christian Religion to such People, as yet live in Darkness and miserable Ignorance..." Captain Newport, with his three ships, Susan Constant, the Godspeed, and the Discovery, and the group of 104 men and boys, subsequently explored inland and established Jamestown which became the first permanent English settlement in North America.

This is the SHEEP GATE of our Nation! The reopening and dedicating of this East Gate needed to be done as a true priestly act. We shared Communion and declared the canopy of God over the nation.  Many times in carrying out an initiative we witness a prophetic sign.  As we finished this assignment, we heard the sound of navy jets over us and saw a cluster of 12 Navy jets in formation.  I've never seen more than six in formation, but this was 12 (apostolic and governmental), and the formation flew over us twice.  We were still shouting out praise when an eagle joined the heavenly procession.

But that was not the end of my journey.  The Lord instructed me on the next day to go to
The cross to the right is his!
Jamestown.  Kay and I had been here before, but because of time constraints, we were not able to go to the actual site.  We stopped only at the visitor center.  That was in 2012.  This time I walked to the actual site along the river.  When I arrived, I discovered that in 2015, researchers had uncovered (excavated) the first Church - over four hundred years after it was established.  I walked and prayed over the marked off boundaries of the church.  At one end, there were four crosses.  To my surprise, one of those graves was Rev. Robert Hunt's grave.

Rev. Hunt was the one who planted that cross in the beach.  He performed the first communion on this land called America.  He performed the first wedding.  The first wedding canopy and the first act of covenant - communion and matrimony took place here - AND IT

WAS UNCOVERED.  Shortly after visiting the site, I returned to the visitor center and as I entered the gift shop, the first book I saw (which was newly published) was entitled Holy Ground

NOW, I take you to this past weekend (December 14-16, 2017).  I was honored to attend Revolution 2017 - a gathering in Washington D.C. hosted by Jon and Jolene Hamill.  Speakers at the gathering included Dutch Sheets, Cindy Jacobs and Faisal Malick.  The overall message of this gathering was to proclaim, in this year 5778, the gates opened and the bridal canopy of the Lord's glory extended over our nation.  We met in the newly opened and dedicated Museum of the Bible which has been prophetically declared the Ark of the Covenant in our nation.

As I worshiped, the Lord drew my heart back to Cape Henry and He declared to me - the Church (ecclesia) is UNCOVERED AND EMERGING!  Watch now as My KINGDOM comes forth.

Righteous Heaven Approved the Solemn Appeal

Almost a year ago on October 24, 2014, I posted a blog regarding an "Appeal to Heaven."  You can read it again at this link: Appeal to Heaven

Last week as we were finishing up our vacation in New England, Kay and I journeyed to the site of the "first shots" of the American revolution at Lexington and Concord. One of the places I desired to visit was the Hancock-Clarke Home in Lexington. Most people bypass this significant location in Lexington.

Jonas Clarke (1730 – 1805), was an American clergyman and political leader who had a significant and passionate role in the American Revolution and in shaping the 1780 Massachusetts and the United States Constitutions.  His pulpit, like many others, was the site of rallying calls to freedom.

Hancock-Clarke House
Clarke graduated from Harvard College in 1752 and became the third pastor of the Church of Christ in Lexington, Massachusetts on May 19, 1755. He married Lucy Bowes. His wife's cousin was John Hancock. This home was first owned by Hancock's grandfather, the Rev. John Hancock Sr.  The Clarke home was the destination of Paul Revere's ride on April 18, 1775 since Samuel Adams and John Hancock were staying with Rev Clarke. These men were sought after by the British.

Massachusetts Tree Flag
As my wife Kay and I walked through the home, there was a strong sense of God's presence.  It was a home that was filled with the Lord and a family of twelve children. That residue lingered in the rooms. A close examination of the flag on the flagpole out front will reveal what is called the Massachusetts Tree Flag.  It was designed after the "Appeal to Heaven" flag with an evergreen tree in the top left field of white.

When we journeyed a few blocks away to Lexington Green where the first shots of the revolution were fired, we read the inscription on the monument dedicated to those who fell that day.

This is the entire inscription on the monument on the Lexington Green. After further research I discovered that the inscription was written by the Rev. Jonas Clarke, the predominant voice of liberty in Lexington. It was written 24 years after that day in Lexington and 16 years after the end of the war. Please note the "highlighted" phrase!

Sacred to Liberty & the Rights of mankind!!!
The Freedom & Independence of America, Sealed & defended with the blood of her sons.
This Monument is erected
By the inhabitants of Lexington
Under the patronage and at the expense of
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts,
To the memory of their Fellow Citizens,
Ensign ROBERT MUNROE, and Messrs. JONAS PARKER, SAMUEL HADLEY, JONATHAN
The Inscription
HARRINGTON, JR., ISAAC MUZZY, CALEB HARRINGTON AND JOHN BROWN, Of Lexington and ASAHEL PORTER of Woburn,
Who fell on this field, the first victims to the
Sword of British Tyranny and Oppression
On the morning of the ever memorable Nineteenth of April, An. Dom. 1775,
The Die was cast !!!
The Blood of these Martyrs
In the cause of their God and their Country
Was the Cement of the Union of these States, then Colonies, and gave the spring to the Spirit, Firmness And Resolution of their Fellow Citizens,
They rose as one man to Revenge their Brethren’s Blood, and at the Point of the Sword, to Assert
And defend their Native Rights,
They Nobly dar’d to be Free!!
The contest was long, Bloody and Affecting.
Righteous Heaven Approved the Solemn Appeal
Victory crowned their Arms; and
The Peace, Liberty, and Independence of the United States of America was their Glorious Reward.
Built in the year 1799.

The Evergreen Tree
The Spirit of the Lord moved over me as I read the inscription again: "Righteous Heaven Approved the Solemn Appeal." I called my wife Kay over to the monument to read it.  As she did, she declared to me: "Do you see what's next to it?"

The evergreen tree!

Let's us boldly make our Appeal To Heaven in this hour. God will faithfully approve of our appeal as we bow before Him and trust in Him alone for our victory.

The Response

Sharing a letter sent out by Alice Patterson of Justice at the Gate regarding The Response.
Dear Friends,

Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s historic national call to prayer and fasting, The Response: For a Nation in crisis, is this Saturday, August 6, when Americans from across the nation will join together on our knees in Reliant Stadium in Houston to repent and pray in one accord to God Almighty for our nation.  The doors open at 8 am.  The program is from 10 am to 5 pm. Hear Gov. Perry’s personal invitation here: www.theresponseusa.com.

There have been legitimate questions and some accusations about The Response.  I’ll attempt to answer some of them here.
  • Is there a charge to attend or to park? There is no charge to attend, but please visit www.theresponseusa.com and click on REGISTER to register your group to attend.  There is a $15 cash charge for parking at Reliant Stadium.
  • Is this political? No.  Gov. Perry approached a friend about filling a stadium with Americans praying and fasting in December.  It took several months to find a location.  First they tried Cowboy Stadium in Arlington but finally secured Reliant Stadium in Houston.  I think the name is significant – Reliant – reliant upon God!  Doug Stringer, founder of Somebody Cares International based in Houston (www.somebodycares.org), had prayed about a Joel 2 Solemn Assembly for two years.  When he got a call about The Response, Doug knew the time was right.
Here is Tom Billings, Director of Missions for the Houston Baptist Association of churches, speaking with first-hand knowledge about The Response.

Tom Billings

Rev. Carolyn Gilbert, founder of Missionaries with the Vision endorses The Response:

Rev. Carolyn Gilbert
  • Will Gov. Perry announce a run for President at The Response? No – absolutely not! The Response will be prayer, repentance worship and scripture reading.  Although Gov. Perry will have a few minutes on the program, his words will be about prayer, fasting and an appeal to the Lord, calling on our Father in the name of Jesus in unity with all gathered to forgive our sins.
There will be at least two other Governors on the platform praying or reading scripture. There will be no political speeches, which would be illegal for a 501(c) 3 organization to have. There will be some food sold for those who have to eat and lots of bottled water for the thousands who will be fasting.   There will be no booths to pass out literature, no sermons and no offering. The Governor initiated the event, but he's not planning it. It's prayer people that are doing the program.  And thousands of Christians will travel to Houston to get on their knees before the Lord and cry out to our Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in unity. It's not a theological unity or a political unity but an agreement in PRAYER and FASTING that God is our only hope.
  • When I look at The Endorsers and organizers of The Response, I can find some people that I don’t agree with theologically.  Is Gov. Perry endorsing all these different theological views?  Should I participate if I don’t agree with everyone who has endorsed The Response? Gov. Perry is not endorsing the Endorsers and the Endorsers are not endorsing Gov. Perry.  They’re endorsing a call to prayer and fasting that an elected official initiated. See the diversity here.  http://theresponseusa.com/honorary-co-chairs.php
Below is a portion of a response that Dr. Richard Land, noted Southern Baptist leader, penned in answer to the above concerns:
Christians don’t require unanimity on every point to agree that coming together to pray for repentance and blessing upon a nation in crisis is both proper and prudent. Those participating in The Response have serious and justifiable concerns about the state of the culture and America’s very future. As president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s moral and social concerns entity, I often work alongside others who agree on addressing an ethical issue, but whose faith principles may be somewhat at odds with mine. In fact, my denomination’s confession of faith, the Baptist Faith and Message addresses this matter: “Christians should be ready to work with all men of good will in any good cause, always being careful to act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth” (BFM, XV. The Christian and the Social Order)….
Finally, at the very least The Response’s divergent group of endorsers demonstrates that evangelical Christians are a much less homogenous, monolithic group than the mainstream media has often asserted. Richard Land | Jul 14, 2011 3:31 PM
  • Headlines from a Christian newsletter states, “News reports reveal that on July 22nd, Governor Perry stated that he has no problem with gay marriage in New York. Are pro-family leaders that have agreed with boycotting secular companies for their support of gay marriage now going to be consistent and boycott Perry's prayer event?”  Should Christians boycott The Response?  No.  We are not asking for agreement on issues, theology or political parties.  We’re agreeing in prayer. However, on the issue of marriage, Kelly Shackelford, president of Liberty Institute, which is the Texas affiliate for Focus on the Family, states, “Gov. Perry has always supported the Federal Marriage Amendment. That’s never changed. It’s been public. He was trying to say, but maybe not well, that he favors the Federal Marriage Amendment and that is consistent with the 10th Amendment.”
Below is a link to an article from Christian Broadcasting Network to help clear up the marriage issue.
http://blogs.cbn.com/thebrodyfile/archive/2011/07/28/rick-perry-gay-marriage-is-not-fine-with-me.aspx
  • I heard that an atheist group filed suit against Gov. Perry for initiating and talking about The Response?  Will the atheists succeed? No.  On July 28, a federal judge kicked the lawsuit out of court.  See: “Huge Win for Free Speech! Judge Tosses Lawsuit Against Texas Governor and Prayer Rally” below:
http://www.libertylegal.org/current_cases.php?category=6&article=224
In closing, let me ask for your prayers -- for those working on The Response, for the Endorsers, for those mobilizing for it all over the nation and for Gov. Perry. There is a price to pay for standing and calling the nation to prayer and for aligning yourselves with such a call. People you and I love and trust have been drug through the mud by Rachel Maddow and others on the left. I apologize for this one, but you need to see that the attack is not just against Gov. Perry and those of us working on The Response.  It's against the Lord.  If you don’t want to see and hear Colbert’s vulgarity, disregard this.  Watch the video only at your own risk and only if you cover your heart and mind because of the vulgarity:
http://blog.chron.com/believeitornot/2011/07/colbert-wants-to-see-a-perry-god-ticket/
May the Lord forgive us and have mercy on those who have no fear of God. Texas has been in extreme drought.  Although there has been rain in several places across the state, wildfires still burn in many parts of the state.  I wouldn't be the least surprised if it rains and breaks the drought and if the Lord places a rainbow over the gathering of believers humbling themselves before the Lord and confessing our reliance upon God alone in Reliant Stadium.
  • How can I find transportation from my area? There are buses going from many cities – Lufkin, Tyler, Center, Del Rio, the Rio Grande Valley, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and many other places.  I don’t have all the information.  There is still room in San Antonio through Cornerstone Church.  A $30 ticket much be purchased in advance.  Call 210-490-1600 to set up a pick-up and payment time.  In the Metroplex, contact Dr. Shirley Clark at Jabez Prayer Network at jabeznetwork@tx.rr.com or (972) 424-2074.  Take your church vans, car pool and make the trip to Houston!
  • What are the most important three words for this national call to prayer?  Just show up!  By showing up in Houston, you will be making a statement: “I’m crossing denominational, racial and political lines to call upon God Almighty.  My prayers may not be heard by the media or anyone else around me, but the Lord will hear.  I’m turning my back on the controversy and accusations to turn my face to our Father, who is in heaven, to hallow His name and to ask the Lord to forgive us personally and corporately.  May our demonstration of humility, worship and intercession bless the Lord and may He hear from heaven and forgive our sins.
A huge thanks to all who have worked tirelessly to mobilize your area and to pray for The Response.  So many of you have tapped your relationships and used your influence to encourage your networks to attend The Response.  Every email and phone call is appreciated.  I pray even now that plans will be changed to be in Houston.  It’s a date with destiny.
Live streaming will be available at www.theresponseusa.com beginning at 9 am CT on August 6.

Gratefully,

Alice Patterson

Justice at the Gate

P.S.  Here’s what a Jewish rabbi wrote in The Texas Jewish Post, Thursday, July 28 2011.
Be encouraged! Don’t feel threatened by Perry’s prayer day.
To the Editor,
On Aug. 6, 2011, Texas Governor Rick Perry will host “A Call To Prayer,” an all-day Christian fast and prayer service at Reliant Stadium in Houston, seeking Divine assistance for the health, security and prosperity of our nation. As a rabbi, I was touched by his public recognition of the limited role government can play in fixing problems rooted in the spirit, self-centered values and near-sighted vision. Free pills can’t fix soul-ills. Prayer and fasting—improving ourselves as a means to improve the world around us—is a basic tenet of the Judeo-Christian creed that has made America exceptional in deed, why it has selflessly helped nations in need. It is why America rebuilt Europe after WWII and why it has rebuilt parts of the Middle East as part of its war on radical Islamic terror. It is these values that secularists find most alarming. It is the spirit of this country, the Judeo-Christian value system which inspires the Heartland, that they seek to downplay, discourage and disengage.
Dear Governor, may God find favor in your prayer and may this nation be protected from threats within and without, achieving deliverance that only God can bring about.

The Task is Finished - The Work is Just Beginning

On April 21, 2011 we gathered intercessors at the San Jacinto Battlefield (east of Houston) on the 175th anniversary of the battle. One of our first prayers on site was 483 feet high in the observation deck.  There in that room - near the top of the tallest monument in Texas and our Nation, a plumb line was dropped to the room's floor. We called Texas into alignment with God's kingdom.  We declared God's victory over Satan and his principalities.

One of the intercessors was prompted to look up Psalm 48:3 (483 feet high): “God, in her palaces,  has made Himself known as a stronghold.”  We moved to the surrender site (the actual location where the captured dictator Santa Anna met Sam Houston). The Lord commanded us to worship Him.  The battle is His.  The victory is His.  He has destroyed the power of the tyrant over us.

Between the monument and the surrender is a large sundial. As we stood near the sundial, which is lined up with monument and surrender site – I was reminded of standing here 50 years ago. According to Daniel 7 the enemy attempts to align the laws and times according to his plan.  Man also tries to align things (monument, sundial and surrender site) but we have now broken that alignment.  We have now aligned Texas and the Nation with God’s purposes and plans.  Read Daniel 7.

He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. But the court will sit for judgment, and his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever. Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him. (Daniel 7:25-27)

As we continued to worship under the oak trees of the park, the Lord declared through me:
The enemy established his laws and times but today, I the Lord, have lined up this land with my laws and times. This State and Nation is now aligned with me. My kingdom is coming but it won’t be coming to a landscape that you recognize.  Everything is changing, but it is changing in accordance with My will and My kingdom.  Say goodbye to the lifestyles, the times, and the locations that you have grown accustomed to – My kingdom is coming forth.  It will not look like the kingdoms of the earth.  You have passed over.  You have crossed over and this will change all things.  All things will shift. Do not fear or be dismayed for things will change in the days to come but I am changing them. Let go of your old times, locations and memories for I am bringing my kingdom to the state and nation. The State will look different, but it is good, for it is the look of My kingdom. I am this day declaring victory, victory, victory!
As we left the site, some of us traveled to Denton, Texas to celebrate the Passover of the Lord.  I personally journeyed to Washington DC to join other national and state leaders in calling our nation into alignment with God's kingdom, will and destiny.  The nation is the Lord's. We have passed over!

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations will worship before You.
For the kingdom is the LORD'S
And He rules over the nations. (Psalm 22:27-28)

The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart from generation to generation.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. (Psalm 33:11-12)

Releasing the Glory - San Jacinto

10 AM, April 21 at the Battlefield

We are called to release an army to follow the Ark of God's presence. We are to gain the boundaries the Lord has established for us. We are here to declare the government of our Lord against the tyranny of Satan.

Lord instructed us to retrace the steps of the 1835-36 Texas War for Independence. We are to go to the sites of specific events on the 175th anniversary of those events. The first event of the revolution took place in Gonzales on October 2, 1835. We just finished our assignment back at Gonzales underneath the Houston Oak. There we mustered troops for the King's army.

Chuck Pierce declared on October 10, 2010 (10-10-10):

"In the midst of this struggle you are in and how you enter this season of war is how you'll gain the boundaries of your inheritance and all the blessings of your inheritance. Who you war FOR and HOW you express your warfare is how He's going to pour in your covenant blessings in days ahead. "Some of you" - the Lord is saying today - "Press further for you're about to give up a portion - Abram went the full distance and God made covenant with him and said, "It's all yours now." You might not see this (come to pass) but someone WILL see it because I Am God. There is a seed in you that says I want the full inheritance that God has for me. Let Me reorder your warfare for you now - so you receive all I have for you."

Chuck prayed, "Father expand our strength - let us look deep into the warfare around us - press us to the uttermost parts of the boundaries of our inheritance. We say we will not settle until we have moved with You the full boundaries of our future."
On April 21, we will gather on the grounds of San Jacinto Battlefield to WORSHIP. The victory is the Lord's. Again this is not a celebration of Texas over Mexico - Far from it! This is God's kingdom arising in victory over Satan. Join us on April 21st!

IT'S TIME TO PASSOVER AND PROSPER!

The Troops are Mustered

At the beginning of our appointment a cold wind was blowing and the sky was dark and overcast.  By the time we finished the wind was warm and the sun was shining on us.  We were gathered under a majestic oak tree about 8 miles outside of Gonzales, Texas.  The Lord has instructed us to revisit key locations on the Texas Independence Trail.  It is the 175th anniversary of Texas becoming a Republic in 1836.  But our assignment is not so much about those days of independence as much as what the Lord is accomplishing prophetically in His church in this hour.  He is calling His bride to arise and come into her destiny as His Kingdom comes forth.

The issue regarding the bride was highlighted again on this trip as we were reminded that those "grandpas" who first pulled a cannon to the banks of the Guadalupe River in order to thwart a threat by Mexican troops carried a special flag.  The "Come and Take It" flag was put together using a wedding dress of one of the women in Gonzales.

And now we were gathered once again in Gonzales.  But the scenes have changed.  The news of the Alamo has reached the ears of Sam Houston, his troops and the citizens of Gonzales.  General Houston gathers those citizens out to this oak tree and then burns Gonzales to the ground.  He musters the troops as an army.  He sends a courier to Colonel Fannin in Goliad to abandon his post and head east.  Fannin procrastinates and two weeks later his entire troop, except a few, are executed via Santa Anna's orders.

Houston proceeds to give orders to his army and moves east on the "Runaway Scrape" to a final victory at San Jacinto near present day Houston.

Our task consisted of the following acts:

First, we revisited the old jail museum in downtown Gonzales.  In that jail are gallows.  We prophetically declared that on March 14, 2011, Haman was hung.  On February 12, 2010, Rabbi Curt Landry prophesied over me:
Texas needs to receive this anointing as Esther to be used as a Deliverer, and the purpose is to hang Haman on his own scaffold. And the spirit you are battling in the states is a Haman spirit. It is a spirit that wants to annihilate and kill the Judeo-Christian root. The Lord says, “I have anointed Texas with its wealth and its influence that it would rise up at a time as this, and it would go to the king.”
Gathering at this oak tree was a prophetic act of declaring the end of the rule of Satan's tyranny and the raising up of God's army - the bride of Christ. After Haman was hung, the Jewish people were freed to fight against a previous decree calling for their annihilation.  They rose up in victory.  And so will we.

At the oak I mustered the troops.  I specifically called on the intercessors and leaders of Gonzales to once again step into their destiny of volunteerism.  They were the only ones who answered Colonel Travis' plea from the Alamo.  We also anointed the Jehu generation.  We had nine persons representing ages 17-31.  The Lord had previously revealed to me that he was raising up a Jehu generation of warriors (check out 2 Kings 9:1ff to catch the spirit of that anointing).  Jehu annihilated Ahab and Jezebel and all the power of Baal.  The "grandpas and grandmas" under the tree anointed and pledged to mentor and fight by these young warriors.  We finished the day by "crossing the line" and answering a roll call to serve.  The names of Texas cities (all represented under the tree) were called out including Austin, San Antonio, Victoria, Hallettsville, Corpus Christi, Cos, San Marcos, Arlington, and Fort Worth.

Six of us then went to Goliad (the massacre did not take place until March 27, 1836) to break off confusion and the lack of decisive vision and strategy portrayed through Colonel Fannin.  We proclaimed Jesus as the only fortress that would protect us.  We called out the destiny for Texas and our nation that rested on General Zaragosa who was born in Goliad.  He was but seven years old when he witnessed the execution of Fannin's troops.  He was a cousin of Texas hero Juan Sequin.  He would later defeat troops led by Santa Anna, but more importantly, he would command the victory at Puebla, Mexico against the French armies of Napoleon - Cinco de Mayo.

It is time!  Gather as a kingdom!  Connect with your brothers and sisters.  The troops are mustered.

Releasing the Glory - The Houston Oak in Gonzales

It's March 6, 2011.  I'm in San Antonio.  Later this afternoon several of us will gather on the Alamo plaza to remember the sacrifice paid 175 years ago.  It's time to stand.  It's time to "cross the line" for Texas and the Lord's kingdom.

On March 13, 1836 General Sam Houston dispatched three scouts from Gonzales, Texas - "Deaf" Smith, Henry Karnes and Robert Handy. Their assignment was to ride to San Antonio de Bexar to learn the status of Col. William B. Travis and the other defenders of the Alamo. Only twenty miles from Gonzales they met Susannah Dickinson, her infant daughter Angelina and Joe, Colonel Travis' slave.

Mrs. Dickinson informed the scouts that on the morning of March 6 all the defenders within the Alamo had died at the hands of General Santa Anna's army. Henry Karnes returned to Gonzales to report the news to General Houston.  The news threw the residents of Gonzales into a panic. Following the desertion of some of his soldiers, Sam Houston ordered the torching of the town and summarily retreated to the outskirts of Gonzales.  On March 14, 1836 (175 years ago), with the townspeople watching the town burn, Houston stood under a massive oak tree and mustered an army. He headed east (the runaway scrape) towards an inevitable appointment with destiny and victory at San Jacinto

Last August I wrote:
The word of the Lord for the day is "muster."  He is sounding the alarm.  He is mustering the troops. The dictionary defines muster as:
  1. to assemble (troops, a ship's crew, etc.), as for battle, display, inspection, orders, or discharge
  2. to gather, summon, rouse.
  3. to assemble for inspection, service, etc., as troops or forces.
  4. to come together; collect; assemble; gather.

He is setting everyone and everything in order. He is calling us to "pay the price" for His kingdom.
Last spring I stood under this same tree near Gonzales, Texas and called the saints of God to muster together.  The Alamo represented a place of complete sacrifice. In this season we are fighting another nation or kingdom.  Dr. John Benefiel of Oklahoma reminded us of one simple fact.  There are only two kingdoms.  The kingdom of our God and the kingdom of satan.

We serve the kingdom of God.  We are mustered for His work.  The kingdom of darkness will crumble and fall as we move together as the Lord's army.  Rise up saints of God.  On March 14th, we will once again gather at the Houston Oak.  I will call out in the spiritual what Gen Houston cried out in the natural.  It is time for the army of our God to form.  It is time for us to head towards our destiny to see our enemies fall beneath our feet.  These enemies are not of flesh and blood - but the enemies of darkness that would desire to see the demise of the God's kingdom.  BUT the victory is ours.  I will see you in Gonzales!

I'm Impressed!

Over the last two days I have had the honor to spend time with three of our Texas State Representatives. I was with two them during the Texas State Prayer Breakfast yesterday in Austin. Today I had lunch with the third here in Arlington.

I'm impressed. Each of them revealed an underlying trait of humility and servant hood to the people of Texas. These are godly men. They love the Lord. They desire for Him to be glorified through their public and private lives. They are faithfully seeking God's wisdom as they make crucial, life-changing and hard decisions in Austin.

I promised all of them that my role as coordinator of the Texas Apostolic Prayer Network is not to lobby and pressure them. I desire to development a relationship with the men and women that serve us so that I can have a better understanding on how to release prayer for them and with them. It is one kind of prayer to place these servants on a prayer list where we pray regularly for them, their spouses, their families and jobs. It is another depth of prayer to understand their heart, their struggles, and their agonizing decisions regarding some bill or legislation. We need to seek, with them, God's will and heart for kingdom action.

I won't share who, but one of them exhorted me to get out the word to each of you to contact your legislators and NOT just for the purpose to express your opinion or to encourage them to vote for this or that. Call your legislators - encourage them, stick by them, tell them that you know the decisions are hard and whether or not they make a decision which is popular or not - that you will stand behind them with prayer. These three men are sincerely seeking God's will and it is not always easy to discern that "will" over the sounds of public opinion, unfolding crisis or our own reasoning.

I shared that the Lord had instructed me years ago as my personal prayer list of needs was not being met, that number 1 on my list was His number 5. I want to know the Lord's heart on the matter - whether it regards my personal walk or a legislator making policy. As the Lord intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father - I desire to know what He is praying regarding Texas. I want to know His opinion of the border, entitlements, life, education, etc. I will guarantee you that His ways and thoughts are not ours.

We elected these representatives to represent us, but first and foremost they are to represent and honor God. Let's pray for them. Stand behind them. Walk with them as together we seek His face.

Independence Day - Washington on the Brazos

Whenever justice and liberty is declared - it is time to celebrate.  This will be one of our most significant prophetic acts.  Kay and I, our daughter Amy, and our grandson TJ will have a noon picnic (weather permitting) at Washington on the Brazos State Park on Wednesday, March 2.  We invite you to join us at one of the picnic spots,  Bring your own food.

At 1 PM we will meet at the Star of the Republic Museum. We will declare the establishment of God's everlasting government.  We will call forth His army!  We will call on the Lord of Hosts to release His angelic forces.  We will establish our boundaries in Him. Read my former blog: The Release of Glory.

One of the most important documents in Texas history is the Declaration of Independence, adopted in general convention at Washington-on-the-Brazos, March 2, 1836. Richard Ellis, president of the convention, appointed a committee of five to write the declaration for submission to the convention. However, there is much evidence that George C. Childress, one of the members, wrote the document with little or no help from the other members. Childress is therefore generally accepted as the author.
The text of the declaration is followed by the names of the signers of the document in the style in which they signed the document.

Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Texas
UNANIMOUS
DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE,
BY THE
DELEGATES OF THE PEOPLE OF TEXAS,
IN GENERAL CONVENTION,
AT THE TOWN OF WASHINGTON,
ON THE SECOND DAY OF MARCH, 1836

When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people from whom its legitimate powers are derived, and for the advancement of whose happiness it was instituted; and so far from being a guarantee for the enjoyment of those inestimable and inalienable rights, becomes an instrument in the hands of evil rulers for their oppression; when the Federal Republican Constitution of their country, which they have sworn to support, no longer has a substantial existence, and the whole nature of their government has been forcibly changed without their consent, from a restricted federative republic, composed of sovereign states, to a consolidated central military despotism, in which every interest is disregarded but that of the army and the priesthood – both the eternal enemies of civil liberty, and the ever-ready minions of power, and the usual instruments of tyrants; When long after the spirit of the Constitution has departed, moderation is at length, so far lost, by those in power that even the semblance of freedom is removed, and the forms, themselves, of the constitution discontinued; and so far from their petitions and remonstrances being regarded, the agents who bear them are thrown into dungeons; and mercenary armies sent forth to force a new government upon them at the point of the bayonet. When in consequence of such acts of malfeasance and abdication, on the part of the government, anarchy prevails, and civil society is dissolved into its original elements: In such a crisis, the first law of nature, the right of self-preservation – the inherent and inalienable right of the people to appeal to first principles and take their political affairs into their own hands in extreme cases – enjoins it as a right towards themselves and a sacred obligation to their posterity, to abolish such government and create another in its stead, calculated to rescue them from impending dangers, and to secure their future welfare and happiness. Nations, as well as individuals, are amenable for their acts to the public opinion of mankind. A statement of a part of our grievances is, therefore, submitted to an impartial world, in justification of the hazardous but unavoidable step now taken of severing our political connection with the Mexican people, and assuming an independent attitude among the nations of the earth.

The Mexican government, by its colonization laws, invited and induced the Anglo-American population of Texas to colonize its wilderness under the pledged faith of a written constitution, that they should continue to enjoy that constitutional liberty and republican government to which they had been habituated in the land of their birth, the United States of America. In this expectation they have been cruelly disappointed, inasmuch as the Mexican nation has acquiesced in the late changes made in the government by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who, having overturned the constitution of his country, now offers us the cruel alternative either to abandon our homes, acquired by so many privations, or submit to the most intolerable of all tyranny, the combined despotism of the sword and the priesthood.

It has sacrificed our welfare to the state of Coahuila, by which our interests have been continually depressed, through a jealous and partial course of legislation carried on at a far distant seat of government, by a hostile majority, in an unknown tongue; and this too, notwithstanding we have petitioned in the humblest terms, for the establishment of a separate state government, and have, in accordance with the provisions of the national constitution, presented the general Congress, a republican constitution which was without just cause contemptuously rejected.
It incarcerated in a dungeon, for a long time, one of our citizens, for no other cause but a zealous endeavor to procure the acceptance of our constitution and the establishment of a state government.
It has failed and refused to secure on a firm basis, the right of trial by jury; that palladium of civil liberty, and only safe guarantee for the life, liberty, and property of the citizen.
It has failed to establish any public system of education, although possessed of almost boundless resources (the public domain) and, although, it is an axiom, in political science, that unless a people are educated and enlightened it is idle to expect the continuance of civil liberty, or the capacity for self-government.
It has suffered the military commandants stationed among us to exercise arbitrary acts of oppression and tyranny; thus trampling upon the most sacred rights of the citizen and rendering the military superior to the civil power.
It has dissolved by force of arms, the state Congress of Coahuila and Texas, and obliged our representatives to fly for their lives from the seat of government; thus depriving us of the fundamental political right of representation.
It has demanded the surrender of a number of our citizens, and ordered military detachments to seize and carry them into the Interior for trial; in contempt of the civil authorities, and in defiance of the laws and constitution.
It has made piratical attacks upon our commerce; by commissioning foreign desperadoes, and authorizing them to seize our vessels, and convey the property of our citizens to far distant ports of confiscation.
It denies us the right of worshipping the Almighty according to the dictates of our own consciences, by the support of a national religion calculated to promote the temporal interests of its human functionaries rather than the glory of the true and living God.
It has demanded us to deliver up our arms; which are essential to our defense, the rightful property of freemen, and formidable only to tyrannical governments.
It has invaded our country, both by sea and by land, with intent to lay waste our territory and drive us from our homes; and has now a large mercenary army advancing to carry on against us a war of extermination.
It has, through its emissaries, incited the merciless savage, with the tomahawk and scalping knife, to massacre the inhabitants of our defenseless frontiers.
It hath been, during the whole time of our connection with it, the contemptible sport and victim of successive military revolutions and hath continually exhibited every characteristic of a weak, corrupt and tyrannical government.
These, and other grievances, were patiently borne by the people of Texas until they reached that point at which forbearance ceases to be a virtue. We then took up arms in defense of the national constitution. We appealed to our Mexican brethren for assistance. Our appeal has been made in vain. Though months have elapsed, no sympathetic response has yet been heard from the Interior. We are, therefore, forced to the melancholy conclusion that the Mexican people have acquiesced in the destruction of their liberty, and the substitution therefor of a military government – that they are unfit to be free and incapable of self-government.
The necessity of self-preservation, therefore, now decrees our eternal political separation.
We, therefore, the delegates, with plenary powers, of the people of Texas, in solemn convention assembled, appealing to a candid world for the necessities of our condition, do hereby resolve and DECLARE that our political connection with the Mexican nation has forever ended; and that the people of Texas do now constitute a FREE, SOVEREIGN and INDEPENDENT RE-PUBLIC, and are fully invested with all the rights and attributes which properly belong to the independent nations; and, conscious of the rectitude of our intentions, we fearlessly and confidently commit the issue to the decision of the Supreme Arbiter of the destinies of nations.

The Release of Glory - Alamo

JOIN US IN SAN ANTONIO ON MARCH 6TH!

My eyes were attracted to just one tee shirt.  We were finishing up our time at the Alamo as we journeyed down the El Camino Real de los Tejas. Whether it be a myth or not, the act of Colonel Travis using his sword to draw a line in the dirt at the Alamo is still a powerful testimony.  It is a call to make the choice to stand up against every tyranny that faces us - even to the point of death.

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm" (Ephesians 6:11-13).

Several times along the El Camino Real de los Tejas, I was compelled to take a sword and exhort intercessors and leaders in Texas to make the same decision.  But our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the forces of evil and death that seek to destroy us.  Several references to the Alamo came up in our meetings (and none of those referred to our present or past relationship with Mexico).  The context was always - are you willing to take the necessary stand for the Lord and His kingdom?

175 years ago, William Barret Travis and almost two hundred other defenders found themselves surrounded at the Alamo Mission in San Antonio in late February of 1836. Refusing to surrender, they held off the invading armies of Mexican Dictator Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna for almost two weeks.

On March 6, the courageous Texans were overrun and slaughtered by well over 2000 Mexicans. The resulting delay of Santa Anna's eastward movement gave other Texans more time to organize, both politically and militarily, and to ultimately defeat and capture Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto, fought April 21, 1836.

The letter below was written by Travis soon after the Mexicans first appeared in the area around San Antonio. It is often referenced as a supreme example of the virtues of courage and self-sacrifice.
To the People of Texas & All Americans in the world —
Fellow Citizens & compatriots —

I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna — I have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man — The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken — I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls — I shall never surrender or retreat.  Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch — The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily & will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country — VICTORY OR DEATH.

William Barrett Travis, Lt. Col. comdt.
We shall never surrender or retreat.  Victory or death! What will you choose?

We will take a stand for victory on Sunday, March 6 in San Antonio.  In the afternoon we will visit the Alamo on the 175th anniversary of its fall.  Sunday evening at 7 we invite you to join us for worship at the:

The Release of Glory - Washington on the Brazos

GATHER WITH US AT WASHINGTON ON THE BRAZOS

We are called to release an army to follow the Ark of God's presence.
We are to gain the boundaries the Lord has established for us.
We are here to declare the government of our Lord against the tyranny of Satan.

The Lord instructed us to retrace the steps of the 1835-36 Texas War for Independence.  We are to go to the sites of specific events on the 175th anniversary of those events.  The first event of the revolution took place in Gonzales on October 2, 1835.  Our second stop on the Independence Trail was November 6 in San Felipe, Texas.

Chuck Pierce declared on October 10, 2010:

After the consultation at San Felipe adjourned, they decided to meet at Washington (on the Brazos), on the 1st day of March, 1836.  In addition to other important matters, it was provided that  "there should be a regular army created for the protection of Texas during the present war." To give aid and assistance in organizing this army, in adopting rules for its government, and in providing the personnel and materiel, General Houston remained in attendance on the governor and council until the 16th of December, when he was ordered to remove his headquarters to Washington.

Washington-on-the-Brazos is known as "the birthplace of Texas", a distinction it earned when on March 1, 1836 it became the meeting place of the Texas delegates who formally announced Texas' intention to separate from Mexico and who drafted the constitution of the new Republic of Texas, organizing an interim government to serve until an officially elected government could be put in place.

The delegates declared independence on March 2, 1836. Their constitution was adopted on March 16. The delegates worked until March 17, when they had to flee, along with the people of Washington, to escape the advancing Mexican Army. The townspeople returned after the Mexican Army was defeated at San Jacinto on April 21. Town leaders lobbied for Washington’s designation as the permanent capital of the Republic of Texas, but leaders of the Republic passed over Washington in favor of Waterloo, which later was renamed Austin.

Gather with us at Washington on the Brazos outside of Navasota (Map) on Wednesday, March 2 at 1 PM. We will meet at the Star of the Republic Museum. We will declare the establishment of God's everlasting government.  We will call forth His army!  We will on the Lord of Hosts to release His angelic forces.  We will establish our boundaries in Him.

Upcoming journeys:
  • March 6 - The Alamo
  • March 14 - Gonzales
  • March 27 - Goliad
  • April 21 - San Jacinto
